At least 21 people suffered burns when the cylinder of a CNG-run bus exploded in the BRAC area on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Palashbari upazila on Monday night.
Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station, said most of the passengers managed to get down from the bus as soon as the fire spread.
When the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Saikot Paribahan’ coming from Gangachara of Rangpur, reached the area at about 9:30 pm, the cylinder exploded, leaving 21 of its passengers inured.The bus was also badly damaged in the cylinder explosion.Informed, firefighters from Gaibandha rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.
