BNP leader Khondker Mahbubuddin Ahmed passes away

Former member of parliament and BNP leader Advocate Khondker Mahbubuddin Ahmed died of cardiac arrest at a city hospital on Saturday evening. He was 88.
Hospital sources said Mahbubuddin Ahmed, also a BNP standing committee member, was admitted to United Hospital with cardiac problems on February 25. He breathed his last at the ICU of the hospital around 7:45pm.Meanwhile, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia condoled the death of Khondker Mahbubuddin and conveyed deep sympathy to his bereaved family members. – UNB
72 held in Cox’s Bazar while going to Malaysia illegally
Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard detained 72 people, including 42 Bangladeshis, from St. Martin’s Island in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Saturday while going to Malaysia illegally.
Tipped off, an operation team of Coast Guard of Shahpuri Island conducted a drive in the area around 1:30pm and arrested 42 Bangladeshis and 30 Myanmar nationals got into a Myanmar trawler to go to Malaysia through waterways, said a handout.
Four women and two children were among those held. – UNB
