The government will give opportunity to 10,000 Bangladeshi pilgrims to perform hajj at Tk 300,000- 350,000.
Altogether 101,758 Bangladeshi pilgrims will perform Hajj this year.
Other than the 10,000 going on government packages, the rest can perform Hajj through private packages that will cost Tk 295,776.
The cabinet on Monday approved the ‘Hajj Package’ at a meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Cabinet Secretary Muhammad Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said there would be two packages under government management like last year.The first package costs Tk 354,316 while the second package costs Tk 295,776. The pilgrims would have to pay an extra 500 Saudi Riyal with each of the package.
The packages includes accommodation and other facilities. The cost difference between the two packages is because of differential house rents.
The cabinet secretary said the lowest floor price for pilgrims under private management had been fixed Tk 295776.
Last year, cost of the first package was Tk 347,027 and the second package came to Tk 278,742.
Beyond that, the pilgrims had to pay some extra charges.
Bhuiyan said this year less pilgrims will be allowed to perform Hajj as the Saudi government cut the quota for Bangladeshi pilgrims by 20 percent due to ongoing repair work at the Haram Sharif.
The repair work would continue until 2015.
Last year, 127,198 Bangladeshi pilgrims performed Hajj on both government and private packages. – bdnews24.com
