Robbers looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk3 lakh from a house in Alaibahar village of the city early Thursday.
Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10 to 12, stormed the house of Shangkar Bhattacharya at the village at about 2:30 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.They looted 3.5 tolas of gold ornaments, Tk1 lakh cash, mobile phone sets and other valuables worth Tk3 lakh from the house and decamped with the booty.Akter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Airport Police Station, confirmed the robbery.A case was filed under the police station. -UNB, Sylhet
