Detectives in a drive arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 44 kilograms of hemp at Amertal of Kathalbari area in the district town early Saturday.The arrestees were identified as Mahidul Islam, a resident of Gharialdanga area of Rajarhat upazila, and Shahinur Rahman Titu, a resident of Lalmonirhat district.Tipped off, a team of DB police conducted a raid in the area and arrested them along with 44 kilograms of hemp worth Tk3.3 lakh in the wee hours of the day, said Sohrab Ali, officer-in-charge of the Detective Branch (Special), Kurigram.The arrestees had long been involved in smuggling hemp from India, he added. -UNB, Kurigram
