Allah is Great, says factory building collapse survivor

DHAKA: Reshma, the girl who survived the tragic building collapse and was rescued after being trapped inside the debris for 17 days, said she has never imagined coming out.“I never imagined coming out from the darkness of the collapsed building. All the time I only called Almighty Allah,” she said.
The brave girl came up with the observation while talking to journalists at the combined military hospital at Savar, near Dhaka, on Monday afternoon.
Three days after her miraculous rescue, Reshma described the sufferings she faced for 17 days since the collapse of Rana Plaza factory building in Savar.
She told the reporters: “I got severe injury in my head when the building collapsed. After this, I recalled nothing. I shifted place crawling.”
On May 10, Reshma was rescued alive from under the debris of Rana Plaza building that collapsed killing about 1100 garment workers.
Reshma, who was divorced seven months ago, hails from Dinajpur, the northernmost district of Bangladesh. Her sister, Asma who thought Reshma was no more, rushed to the hospital after hearing the good news.
She was taken to the ICU of Combined Military Hospital by an Army ambulance after the rescue.
Army personnel Moazzem Hossain said, “She survived for 17 days days eating dry foods and water under the debris.”
Death toll rose to 1045 in the worst RMG industry disaster. The 9-storied Rana Plaza building which housed five garment factories, a branch of bank and a shopping centre, collapsed On April 24.
