A police informant was stabbed to death in the city’s Pallabi area in the early hours of Sunday.The victim was identified as Manik, 45, son of late Kitab Ali of Dhamarhait upazila in Naogaon district.
Police quoting witnesses said some miscreants indiscriminately stabbed Manik near Barisal hotel at Kalshi crossing of Mirpur-12 under Pallabi police station at around 4:30 am and fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.
A rickshaw puller rescued Manik and rushed him to a local hospital. Then he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead at around 6:45 am, said Officer-in-charge of Pallabi police station Dadan Fakir.
Previous enmity might be the main reason behind the killing, the OC said.
Inspector (Investigation) of the police station Mainul said slain Manik worked as a police informer one year back.
