A section of Ulema meets PM, places demands

A delegation of Ulema-Mashaikh (Islamic scholars) met the Prime Minister on Thursday night and placed a six-point demand, including the facebook blocking and the arrest of the bloggers who are reportedly hurting the religious sentiment of people.Their other demands are passing a bill in the next session of Parliament ensuring the respect for the Prophet (PBUH), immediate release of all the detained Ulema leaders, banning all the Moududi’s books, bringing necessary corrections in religious books, government recognition of all Qaumi madrasahs and declaring Kadianis as non-Muslims and setting up separate graveyards for them.
They met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban and placed the demands. Mufti Ruhul Amin led the Ulema-Mashaikh delegation.
They also said their demands are the same of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh and urged the government to fulfill those to save the country from confrontations.
The delegation also demanded withdrawal of Friday’s hartal called for obstructing the long march to Dhaka. (Source: UNB)
