Police recovered the body of a youth from a paddy field at Nilkuthi Boumaridanga in Manda upazila on Thursday after 26 days of his abduction.
The deceased was identified as Sohel Rana, 18, an HSC examinee and son of Mohammad Ali of Kamarkuri village in the upazila.
Ainal Haque, brother-in-law of the victim, said miscreants had abducted Sohel from Ferighat area in the evening on February 8 and later they demanded Tk 20 lakh as ransom for his release over phone.On March 1, Sohel’s father filed a case with Manda police station.
Police arrested four friends of the victim –- Moktadur Ahsan, 20 Mostafa Kamal, 20, his brother Sajedur Rahman Shamim, 19 and Ekhlasur Rahman, 20, of Srirampur Modhyapara village on Wednesday night. According to the statement of Moktadir and Ekhlasur, police recovered the body of the youth around 11 am, assistant police super M Monirul Islam of Mohadevpur circle said.
The body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy. – UNB
