Acting President Advocate Abdul Hamid is going to be elected as the next President of the country.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the indication at an Awami League Parliamentary Board meeting on Friday night when attendees expressed curiosity about presidential election.
After getting the party nomination, Advocate Abdul Hamid will submit nomination paper as presidential candidate to the election commission on Sunday (April 21).
AL Parliamentary Party in a meeting to be held on March 21 will nominate party candidate for the presidential post, said sources concerned.
In Friday’s meeting, AL Parliamentary Board took interview of 14 aspirants for Naogaon-5 constituency by-poll including Rehana Jalil, wife of late AL lawmaker Abdul Jalil, Naogaon district AL president Advocate Fazle Rabbi, General Secretary Abdul Malek.
Source also said that AL lawmakers criticized BNP leaders especially Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Sadek Hossain Khoka for provoking people to commit violence like Fatikchari in Chittagong. They also suggested taking legal actions against them for delivering the provocative speech.
The meeting was held at Ganobhaban with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
