Govt desperate to annihilate opposition: BNP

Opposition BNP on Saturday accused the government of providing licenses to Chhatra League and Jubo League men for killing people in a bid to annihilate its political opponents.“The government is using state machinery, Jubo League and Chhatra League men to wipe out the opposition. It seems that Awami League has given its associate bodies Jubo League and Chhatra League licenses to kill people, said BNP chairperson’s adviser Sahmasuzzam Dudu.
He came up with the allegation while addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office protesting the killing of Meherpur Sadar upazila BNP vice president Shamsher Alam Malitha.
Dudu held the Jubo League and Chhatra League men responsible for the killing.
Shamsher Malitha was killed in a bomb attack by miscreants at Sonapur village in Meherpur Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The BNP leader said the country’s people got panicked and fed up seeing the nonstop killing and torture and repression on the opposition.
Mentioning that the government is basking in the heaven of mistake, he said it will not be able to stop people’s movement for establishing democracy by resorting to repressive acts.
About the opposition’s next course of action programmes, Dudu said, “We’re on a movement for forcing the government to restore the caretaker government. We’ll announce harsher programmes like hartal and blockade gradually depending on the situation.”
The BNP leader claimed that the nation is ready to make the supreme sacrifice once again to reinstate the caretaker government system.
Replying to a question whether BNP will announce any programme if top BNP leaders do not get bail from court on Sunday, Dudu said the top leaders of the 18-party will finalise the action programme on the basis of the court order.
He demanded the immediate release of all BNP leaders and activists and withdrawal of “false” cases filed against them. UNB
