ACC director handling DIG Mizanur’s case suspended

Dhaka, Jun 10 – Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) temporarily suspended its director Khandaker Enamul Basir on allegations of leaking information in violation of the rules.
According to a report broadcast on private TV channel ATN News yesterday (June 9), ACC director Khandaker Enamul Basir accepted a bribe of Tk 40 lakh ahead of a search conducted against DIG Mizanur Rahman, who recorded the interaction and turned over the footage to ATN News.
He took Tk 25 lakh from Ramna Park in Dhaka from the DIG Mizanur Rahman and expressed the desire to get the remaining Tk 15 lakh in the next one week. He also demanded a gas powered car to bring his son to school. Besides, he disclosed more important information of the commission, according to the report.
A three-member high-level inquiry committee headed by ACC Secretary Muhammad Dilawar Bakht was formed after the report was broadcast on ATN News.
The Commission directed the committee to submit its report by 3PM on Monday.
According to the commission’s instructions, this committee submitted the report to the commission today.
After reviewing the report, the commission suspended director of Khandaker Enamul Basir from the job of ACC on charges of illegally transmitting the ACC data, violating job discipline. – UNB
