16 organisations fined for providing illegal internet connections

Dhaka, June 10 – Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has fined 16 internet providers Tk 20.20 lakh and filed cases against four others for providing internet connections without licences.
The cases were filed with Sonadanga Model Police Station in Khulna, Rupganj Police Station in Narayanganj, and Chawkbazar Model Police Station and Kamrangirchar Police Station in Dhaka, said a BTRC press release on Monday.
It said some internet traders are providing internet connections to different clients without taking any licence after buying bandwidth from legal internet service providers.
The organisations that were fined include Maya Cyber World, Stargate Communication of Rangpur, Cyber Net Communication, Circle Network of Ashulia, Fiber Net Limited of Panthapath, JF Optical Service of Mohakhali, ZX Online Limited of Lalbagh, Net Café of Wari, Triangle Communication of Badda, Media and Multimedia of Uttara, Megacity Link of Kathalbagan, Asia Net of Mohammadpur, ZS Network of Lalbagh, Speed Link of Kalabagan and Rafin Satellite of Kamrangirchar. – UNB
