ACC interrogates AL MP Badi

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday quizzed Awami League lawmaker Abdul Rahman Badi at its head office for accumulating a huge amount of wealth.
After emerging from the commission office, the AL lawmaker, who has been elected from Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency, however, claimed that he was a victim of “media conspiracy”.He said that the family business was the source of his wealth.
“I have no unsolicited wealth and my wealth did not expand illegally. I’m a victim of media conspiracy, they (media) have been hatching conspiracy along with the opposition,” he said.
Replying a question, Badi said that he is ready to quit Parliament if the ACC can prove his illegal wealth.
About the alleged Yaba business, he said that some media have tried to address him as a Yaba trader because they were associated with some Yaba traders.
“If they (media and Yeba traders) will succeed to establish as a Yaba trader they may enjoy some benefits from the administration. I am a border businessman,” he said.
Badi’s wealth had reportedly increased by around 351 times during the tenure of 2009 to 2013 of the last AL government.
The commission deputy director Ahasan Ali interrogated Badi for three hours from 10:00am to investigate the allegation over accumulating illegal wealth.
Meanwhile, the ACC on Sunday served a notice upon former state minister for public works Abdul Manan Khan and asked him to appear before the commission on February 20 to explain about his amassing wealth.
