The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will interrogate former chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha Sahid Alam and five former board members relating to inquiry against the irregularities made by former housing and public works secretary Khandakar Shawkat Hossain tomorrow .
The former five Rajuk board members are— Azizul Haque, AKM Harun, Akhter Hossain, Nazmul Hai, Nasir Uddin and Rezaul Karim Tarafder, said an ACC official. The Rajuk officials were in service in 2005 when Khandakar Shawkat, now the secretary at expatriates welfare and overseas employment ministry, allegedly acquired different plots and changed the project design from Rajuk projects by abusing power, he said.
ACC deputy director, Jatan Kumer Ray, was assigned to conduct the inquiry and he has primarily found that the secretary, while serving as the housing and public works secretary, acquired plots in the name of himself, his wife and his mother from different Rajuk projects.
According to the Rajuk’s documents, the officials said Khandakar Shawkat had taken a five-katha plot in his name, and a five-katha plot in his mother name.
He also allegedly took a five-katha plot in his wife’s name in Purbachal New City Project in 2005, which later was converted to a 10-katha plot and later to a 12-katha plot exchanging the previous ones.
The ACC on February 27 had interrogated the Rajuk chairman Nurul Huda on the same reason. – Staff Reporter
