ACC to probe graft in DCC South

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) will probe the alleged embezzlement of about Tk 10 crore from different development projects of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), according to a senior official of the commission.The decision to carryout enquiry into the graft allegation came from a meeting of the Commission recently, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
Talking to reporters on Thursday he said an ACC enquiry team for the purpose would be formed soon.
Sources said a vested quarter plundered about Tk 10 crore from the DSCC development projects in the name of repairing roads and drains.
They said former DSCC chief executive officer Sultanul Islam Chowdhury, chief engineer Jahangir Alam, Public Relations Officer Uttam Kumar Roy and executive engineer (Area-2) Kazi Burhan Uddin allegedly embezzled the money in connivance with each other.
