Adoption of the latest agriculture technologies evolved by Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI) at farmers’ level could enhance safe and nutritious food output and make farm-activities more profitable.
Agriculturists expressed the views at a workshop on ‘Introduction of BARI-evolved Modern Technologies’ held at seminar room of Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) of BARI at Burirhat in Rangpur city on Sunday, a release said here today.
The Training and Communication Wing of BARI at Gazipur organised the event participated by fifty field level officials of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) from all five districts of Rangpur agriculture region.Director of the Training and Communication Wing of BARI at Gazipur Agriculturist Zebun Nesa attended the workshop as the chief guest with its Chief Scientific Officer at RARS at Burirhat in Rangpur Agriculturist Dr. Ashish Kumar Saha in the chair.
Chief Scientific Officer at Entomology Division of BARI at Gazipur Agriculturist Dr. Debashish Sarker and Rangpur Regional Additional Director of the DAE Agriculturist Mohammad Ali addressed as special guests.
Principal Scientific Officer at Pulse Research Sub-station of BARI at Gazipur Agriculturist Dr. Md. Omar Ali, Principal Scientific Officer at its Horticulture Research Centre Agriculturist Dr. Babul Chandra Sarker, Senior Scientific Officer of On-farm Research Division of BARI at Alamnagar in Rangpur Agriculturist Dr. Zannatul Ferdous, Agriculturist Dr. Debashish Sarker, Agriculturist Dr. Ashish Kumar Saha and Principal Scientific Officer at the Farm Machinery and Post Harvest Process Engineering Division of BARI at Gazipur Agriculturist Dr. Md. Aiyub Hossain delivered presentations on the BARI-evolved latest crop varieties and agriculture technologies as resource persons.
The resource persons introduced the participants with BARI-evolved high yielding varieties of pulse, oilseed, wheat, maize and other cereal crops, horticultural, spicy and tuber crops, crop management technologies, managements of crop diseases and pests, farm machineries, irrigation and post harvest crop managements in the workshop.Agriculturist Dr. Saha stressed on popularising of the BARI-evolved high yielding, safe and nutritious crop varieties along with quicker dissemination of the cost-effective farm management technologies among farmers.
The chief guest said necessary cooperation would be extended to the DAE authorities for faster dissemination of the BARI-evolved latest agriculture technologies to increase safe and nutritious foods and make farm-activities more profitable, reports BSS from Rangpur.
