At least 25 people were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League and BNP over establishing supremacy at Shabdalpur union in Sreepur upazila on Thursday morning.
Quoting witnesses, police said ruling party leader Sabbir Hossain and BNP leader Hafijur Rahman had been at loggerheads over establishing their dominion in the locality.As a sequel to the enmity, supporters of Hafijur set afire Sabbir’s wheat field on Wednesday.Later, a chase and counter-chase took place between the two groups over the issue on Thursday morning.At one stage, both the groups equipped with home-made firearms attacked each other, leaving 25 people from both sides injured.Twenty houses were also damaged and looted during the clash.Being informed, police rushed to the spot and quelled the unrest.Of the 25, critically injured seven were admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital and Dariapur Hospital.
