Dhaka – The ruling Awami League is likely to announce its election manifesto within a couple of days. According to party insiders, senior AL leaders are working on the election manifesto and would place it to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina very soon.“After the final approval by the party chief (Hasina), it will be made public,” said a senior AL leader. He also said Sheikh Hasina would announce the election manifesto through a press conference shortly.
AL advisory council member HT Imam, AMA Muhith, Dr Mashiur Rahman, presidium member Nuh Ul Alam Lenin, former food minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, Saber Hossain Chowdhury and economist Abul Barkat are, among others, working on the election manifesto.
The manifesto is likely to focus on optimum utilisation of land, water and manpower, infrastructure development and decentralisation.
It will also give priority to making different public sector profitable along with women empowerment and self-empowerment with its theme as ‘Bangladesh is marching forward towards peace, development and prosperity’.
Apart from that, the unfinished works of the ninth Parliament and vision 2021 will also come up in the election manifesto. – UNB
