AL leaders and activists holding rally on Sunday evening at Babuganj upazila Sadar gave ultimatum to withdraw officer in charge of local police station and the case lodge against 24 AL leaders and activists for ransacking Workers Party office and injuring 8 activists.Workers Party office ransacked and 8 activists injured by attack of alliance partner Awami League activists at Sarbahara-prone Agorpur union under Babuganj upazila of Barisal district at about 10:00 PM Friday night.The attack on WP office was done as WP activists protested blocking of Arial Kha river in the area for fish farming by alliance partner AL leaders and activists led by Khalid Hossain Swapan and his associates.Luthful Kabir Sabuj, injured secretary of Agorpur union WP, as complainant lodging the case on early Sunday alleged that more than 20 AL activists led by Shahid, Azizul, Abbas, Halim Bepari attacked and ransacked the union WP office in presence of upazila chairman and AL secretary, Khalid Hossain Swapan at about 10:00 PM Friday night.Shah E Alam, Babuganj police station officer in charge, said police started investigation of the case and legal action would also be taken after investigation.On other hand AL leaders and activists on Sunday evening at Babuganj College Gate held a rally protesting lodging case accusing their leaders and activists.It was presided over by Amir Hossain Master, upazila AL vice president and addressed among others by Rifat Zahan Tapasi, upazila vice chairman, Mannan Haoladar, Delawr Hossain, Kamal Hossain, Paritosh Chandra Pal, AL leaders.In the rally speakers condemning lodging ‘false’ case against AL leaders and activists demanded it withdrawal and transfer of the officer in charge of police station for accepting that ‘false’ case within next 24-hour.Babuganj upazila chairman and AL secretary, former Sarbahara leader Khalid Hossain Swapan, denying his involvement with the attack and allegation of fish farming by blocking river flow, said he did not know who attacked and damaged the WP office, but intentionally accused in the case.Barisal Correspondent.
