Awami League MP from Barisal-5 constituency Shawkat Hossain Hiron died at Apollo Hospitals in the capital on Wednesday morning. He was 57.
Shawkat Hossain Hiron, who had been undergoing treatment at the hospital, was declared dead at about 7:00am, said Shahidul Islam Shahid, duty manager of the hospital.Hiron, also a former mayor of Barisal City Corporation, had been admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on March 24 after he suffered a brain stroke and later he was brought back home from there on April 4, said Litu, a close friend of Hiron.
Hiron afterwards was admitted to Apollo Hospitals and kept at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital as his health conditions deteriorated.
He left behind his wife, one son and one daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death. – UNB
