AL leader also rules out possibility of dialogue

There is no further scope for any dialogue with the opposition as the 10th parliamentary elections are now over, said Awami League Dhaka city unit general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Monday.   “It (election) has been accomplished in exchange of blood. There’ll be no more compromise. It (compromise) will not happen anymore. There’ll be no dialogue over election anymore,” he said at a human chain.   The human chain was organised by AL’s Dhaka city unit in front of the party headquarters at Bangabandhu Avenue.   Speaking on the occasion, Environment and Forest Minister Hasan Mahmud said the opposition alliance has failed to thwart the voting.   He said the Election Commission (EC) by holding the 10th parliamentary polls has proved that fair election can be held under the ruling party.   State Minister for Law Qamrul Islam said the 10th parliamentary polls were, in fact, an election to protect the democratic and constitutional process in the country.   Quamrul said although the voter turnout was low in the polls held yesterday (Sunday), the EC had been able to conduct a fair election.   Awami League won absolute majority in Sunday’s national election that was marked by massive violence and low turnout amid boycott by the opposition alliance.   So far, 24 people were killed in last two days — 19 on Sunday and five on Monday — over the national election.   Meanwhile, BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, now in London, ruled out the possibility of further dialogue with Awami League branding the incoming government an ‘illegal’ one.   Tarique said this to journalists stationed in London at a press briefing. – UNB
