Cox’s Bazar – A local Awami League leader was shot to death by miscreants at the Sonadia Island in Maheshkhali upazila early Monday.The deceased was identified as Abdul Karim alias Nagu Member, 55, a member of Kutubjum union parishad (UP) and also president of the union unit AL.Officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station Babu Chandra Banik said a group of miscreants fired gunshots at Nagu member and stabbed him indiscriminately on his way to home from Tarabi prayers around 10pm, leaving him critically injured.He was first rushed to Moheshkhali Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.He succumbed to his injures at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital around 12:30am.A case was filed in this connection.
