AL leader shot dead in Tangail

A local Awami League leader was shot to death by some unidentified criminals in College Para area on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Faruk Ahmed, 60, Tangail BRDB chairman and Tangail Red Crescent society’s acting chairman. He was also a freedom fighter.

Local sources said municipal ward-6 councillor found bullet wounded Faruk in College Para area around 11:30pm.

Later, locals rushed him to Tangail General Hospital where the duty doctor declared him dead.

Deceased’s wife Nahar Ahmed told banglanews, “Some Awami League men murdered my husband and I want their punishment.”

Tangail General Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Rafiqul Islam told banglanews, “He was shot to death and bullet marks were noticed on his back.”

Tangail Police Station OC Nazrul Islam told banglanews, “We are primarily estimating that she was shot to death but we have to investigate the matter to find out who has murdered him.”banglanews24.com
