A local leader of Awami League was stabbed to death allegedly by a Jubo League man at Jagathpur village in Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday night.The deceased was identified as Makram Ali, general secretary of ward No 5 of Perul Uttar union unit of Awami League and a resident of Chhoto Hargila village in the upazila.
Union Awami League vice-president Abdul Latif said a group of 7-8 Jubo League activists, led by Rasel, snatched the belongings of an auto-rickshaw driver at a road of Jagathpur at about 9pm.
On information, Makram rushed to the spot at about 10pm and rebuked Rasel. Being angered, Rasel stabbed the ruling party leader indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. – UNB
