Expatriate beaten to death by ‘AL men’ over toll in Comilla

Comilla – An expatriate was beaten to death allegedly by Awami League men at Gakulnagar village in Muradnagar upazila on Friday after his refusal to pay them toll.
The deceased was identified as Oman expatriate Jasim Uddin, 40, son of Abdul Khaleque of the village.Locals said ruling party leaders demanded Tk 5 lakh to Jasim as he was filling his pond by earth.
As Jasim refused to concede to their demand, the Awami League men, led by upazila unit joint general secretary Masudul Islam and organising secretary Abul Kalam Azad, swooped on the expatriate around 2:15pm today.
The attackers beat him mercilessly, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Debidwar Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue autopsy.
Meanwhile, Muradnagar Police Station officer-in-charge Nazim Uddin said Jasim was killed in beating by miscreants.
Victim’s elder brother Abdul Mannaf filed a case against the ruling party leaders. – UNB
