AL speaks of democracy yet works against it: Book unveiled

BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan yesterday said the ruling Awami League (AL) always speaks about democracy but acts against it.
He said this while addressing a book launching ceremony at Jatiya Press Club.
The BNP leader alleged that the target behind creation of political crises is to take the country towards one-party rule as they tried to establish one-party BKSAL system in 1975.
Khan accused the present government of killing democracy and said they have taken position against the people of the country.
He said the country is passing through deep crisis and the condition of the country is not good.
“The country must be taken out of it because it was liberated not to take any certain person or quarters to power. The people had fought the liberation war for democracy,” he said.
Centre for National Studies (CNS), a pro-BNP platform for political research organisaiton, launched the book titled “Political Crisis in Bangladesh.”
Presided over by BNP chairperson’s advisers Shawkat Mahmud, the function was also addressed, among others, by journalist Shafik Rehman, MA Qaiyum, and poet Abdul Hye Sikder. – Staff Reporter
