Police arrested an alleged drug dealer along with 39,000 pieces contraband yaba tablets from BK Das Road in Old Dhaka on Thursday night.
The arrested illegal drug trader was identified as Sabbir Hossain alias Sabbir.
Briefing to reporters at DMP media centre in the city on Friday, Deputy Comissioner (DC) of Wari Divission Sayed Nurul Islam said Sabbir brought the yaba tablets consignment from Cox’sbazar riding on a motorbike. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Sutrapur thana police led by its Officer-in-charge Khalilur Rahman conducted a drive in front of Farashgonj Bibika Mazar at 11 BK Das Road at about 10:30 pm and detained Sabbir when he was heading towards Shyamazar carrying the drug consignment, the DC Wari added.
During preliminary interrogation, Sabbir revealed that he was involved in supplying illegal drugs, including yaba tablets in various districts, especial Dhaka district, the DC Nurul said. – News Desk
