Anti-drug Day observed in Faridpur

The ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ a
part of the global programme was observed here yesterday in a
befitting manner.
In this connection local Narcotics Control Department in collaboration
with district administration chalked out an elaborate programme that
included painting and essay competitions projecting the adverse impact
of drug abuse and its harmful effect on our juveniles and youths.
To mark the day a rally was brought out in the town participated by
school and college students to create awareness among the people
against drug abuse.
A discussion meeting was held at local Kabi Jasimuddin hall in this
connection with ADM Abdur Rashid as the chief guest while
Superintendent of Narcotics Control department Nakul Chandra Nandi in
the chair.
Speakers at the discussion stressed the need for tougher laws to curb
the drug menace from our society. Speakers also urged both guardians
and teachers to take care of their wards regarding their life style to
stop them from being misled.
The speakers urged the law enforcement agencies to be vigilant against
the illegal trafficking of the harmful drugs.  They also stressed the
need for inclusion of harmful effect of drugs in the curriculum of
text books.
The discussion meeting was addressed, among others, by Awami League
Advisory Council member S.M. Nurunnabi, Additional Police Super Bijoy
Basak, BSS Correspondent Prof. Shahjahan and Ngo person Azharul Islam.
