Fourteen police stations of the district recorded 310 cases, 23 less
compared to April, of criminal activities in the month of May.
The information was revealed at a monthly meeting on the district’s
law and order situation at the deputy commissioner’s office on
Wednesday morning with Mejbah Uddin, deputy commissioner and district
magistrate of Khulna, in the chair.
Of the 14 police stations, five under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP)
recorded 126 cases while the rest nine, out of KMP area, recorded 184
cases.
Meeting sources said the district administration directed police to
remain more sincere for curbing any criminal activities, including
artificial price hike of commodities, arresting fugitive criminals and
checking illegal drugs business during the holy month of Ramadan.
Additional district magistrate MM Arif Pasa, superintendent of police
(SP) Gulam Rauf Khan, upazila nirbahi officers, Rapid Action Battalion
officials and upazila chairmen were present, among others, at the
meeting.
