Two people were shot to death during a clash between two rival groups at Kalir Char of Banglabazar in Munshiganj sadar upazila on Sunday night. The deceased were identified as Foyez Miji, 38, and Mohan Bepari, 35.
Additional police super of Munshiganj ABM Masud Hossain said two groups – one led by Mister Miji and the other by his cousin Shafi Miji — had long been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the locality.Following the rivalry, the both groups locked in a clash around 8:30pm on Sunday.
A chase and counter-chase took place amid gunshots during the melee that left Shafi’s brother Foyez and brother-in-law Mohan injured.
With bullet wounds, they were taken to Munshiganj General Hospital where doctors declared them dead.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to fend off further trouble. – UNB
