Modern American firearm found after gunfight in Khagrachhari

Dhaka-Members of Bangladesh Army in a drive recovered arms and ammos from Lemuchhari area in Mohalchhari upazila in Khagrachhari  after a gunfight with alleged miscreants in the small hours of Monday.Major Mohammad Mujahidul Islam, regional officer of Khagrachhari, said acting on secret information that a group of outlaws were planning to carry out subversive activities in the area, a team of Bangladesh Army conducted a drive around 4:30am.Sensing the army’s presence, the gang members opened fire at them, prompting the army men to retaliate and triggering a ‘gunfight’.
The outlaws at one stage managed to flee the scene.Later the army’s team recovered firearms, including most notably an ultramodern American cold rifle, a foreign-made pistol, 10 rounds of bullets, a magazine of rifle and a magazine of pistol from the spot.Major Mujahid also said the army suspects the group may have been members of the United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF), a faction of which refuses to give up an armed insurgency in the region.
