Arrest warrant against 28 Bnp leaders in car torching case

The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Sunday issued arrest warrants against 28 leaders and activists of BNP-led 20-party alliance in a case filed on the charge of crude bomb attack on a passenger bus in Mirpur area of the city in January last.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of court passed the order of arrest warrants taking into congnisance the charges against 42 BNP leaders and activists in the case. Of the accused 28 did not appear to the court on Sunday. The court directed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Model Police Station to submit reports by July 7 about the execution of arrest warrant.On April 22, the police station official submitted the charge sheet against 42 leaders and activists of the alliance including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and Mosaddak Ali Falu, in an arson case.
Fourteen BNP men, including Rizvi Ahmed and Mosaddek Ali Falu, Adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, are now in jail custody while others including Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas are on the run in the case.
According to the case statement, the accused instigated the alliance activists to torch a bus at Mirpur-1 area on January 28 during their anti-government movement.
On April 22, Mirpur police pressed charges against 42 leaders and activists of the alliance including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed and Mosaddak Ali Falu, in an arson case. The court on April 22 fixed June 7 for framing charges against 42 accused in connection with the cases.
The accused against whom arrest warrant has been issued are standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, joint general secretary Amanullah Aman, national executive committee member Syeda Ashia Ashrafi Papia, Khaleda Zia’s press secretary Maruf kamal Khan Sohel, special assistant to BNP chairperson advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Jubo Dal secretary Saiful Islam Nirob, former Chhatra Dal secretary Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Azizul Bari Helal, Swechchhasebak Dal central president Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, Jubo Dal Dhaka North president mamun Hasan, Swechchhasebak Dal Dhaka North convener Yasin Ali and Jamaat-e-Islami central committee leader Dr Shibli Nomani.
Among them, a total of 14 BNP men, including Rizvi Ahmed and Mosaddek Ali Falu, adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, are now in jail while the others including Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah and Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas are shown absconding.
