Arrest warrant can’t undo movement, Khaleda for any sacrifice: Bnp

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is ready to make any sacrifice in the interests of the country and emancipation of masses of the people, BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday.
In a press statement issued from an undisclosed location, he said arrest of warrants cannot undo any mass movement rather it proves bankruptcy of the government. The BNP leader said it is not nothing but a unrealistic thinking of ruling class to weaken the movement at the grassroots level by issuing arrests of warrant.
“The ongoing movement is heading towards its logical conclusion to fulfil the national aspiration of establishing, stability, peace, prosperous and improved democratic state system,” he said.
Salahuddin accused the government of closing down online newspaper justnewsbd.com for several days as its editor Mushfiq Fazal Ansari participated in press conferences of UN spokesman at UN headquarters.
He said that when an ordinary protestor like Jalaluddin was arrested after his protest by climbing on the canopy of a tree in front Jatiya Press Club then the closure of the news portal comes as no surprise. “It can be a barometer of how the government is fearful of the people,” he added.
The BNP leader called upon the government to immediately step down and cooperate in restoration a democratic system of government.
He drew the attention of the prime minister saying that there is still time for the government to move away from its course for one-party system and quickly step down. “Otherwise, the government would have to meet the fate of autocracy in the history,” he said.
He condemned the killing of Mofizur Rahman, father of Chhatra Dal lfeader Ariful Rahman, with beating by “joint forces” after failing to find his son at their home at Fatehpur in Feni. – Staff Reporter
