Ashura blast case transferred to DB

The case filed over Saturday’s bomb explosions at Huseni Dalan, the Shia community’s headquarters in old part of Dhaka city, has been transferred to Detective Branch of police.
Deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Muntashirul Islam said the case was shifted to the DB from Chawkbazar Police Station on Sunday evening.

Earlier in the day, the case was filed with the Chawkbazar police station in connection with the bomb explosions at Huseni Dalan that left a boy dead and around 100 people injured.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station Md Azizul Haq said sub-inspector Jalal Uddin filed the case.

Unidentified terrorists were made accused in the case, he added.

Assistant Commissioner (Lalbagh Zone) of DMP Faizur Rahman said the case was filed under Section 6 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Sajjad Hossain Sobuj, 16, a Class-VII student, was killed and around 100 people were injured as three homemade bombs went off around 1:45 am when Shia community people gathered there for bringing out a Tajia procession marking holy Ashura.

The DMP on Saturday formed a three-member body headed by DMP additional commissioner Sheikh Maruf Hassan to investigate the bomb blasts.
