Asian School Chess: Noshin win gold medal in Blitz Chess

Dhaka – Bangladesh girl Noshin Anjum achieved gold medal in the Blitz chess category in the 14th Asian School Chess Championship held at Citrus Hotel in Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka on Saturday.Noshin also clinched a bronze medal in the standard chess of the Girls Under-15 age group of the meet.

Noshin earned six points out of 7 matches in blitz chess to earn gold medal as the champions while she (Noshin) achieved 6.5 points out of 9 matches in the standard chess to finish 3rd for a bronze medal.

With the feat, Noshin will get Woman Candidate Master title for winning the bronze medal in standard chess of the competition.

In the Standard Chess, CM Manon Reja Neer became 8th with 6 points in Open Under-9 Age Group, Warsia Khusbu became 13th with 5 points in Girls Under-7 Age Group, Marzouq Chowdhury became 19th with 5 point in Open Under-11 Age Group and Syed Ahnaf Tahmid Sami became 26th with 4 points in Open under 7 Age Group.

In the day’s 9th round matches on Saturday, Noshin lost to Jayatilaka WMM Amodya of Sri Lanka, Neer drew with Suyarov Mukhammadzokhid of Uzbekistan, Marzouq drew with Panthaka WJN Malinda of Sri Lanka, Khusbu lost to Anaishaa Pinkesh Nahar of India and Sami lost to Minsara S D Sadev.

Bangladesh achieved one gold and two bronze medals from Bltiz event. Earlier CM Neer achieved bronze medal from Rapid event.UNB
