Aslam on 7-day remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Monday afternoon placed BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury with his personal assistant Asaduzzaman Mia and chauffeur on a seven-day remand each on the charges of plotting with Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad.Magistrate Md Sharafatuzzaman Ansari passed the order after DB Inspector Golam Rabbani produced the trio to the court with a 10-day remand plea to interrogate them about the alleged plot.
Aslam was detained from Kuril Bishwa Road area in Dhaka on Sunday evening for his alleged conspiracy against Bangladesh with Israeli spy agency Mossad. He was held within hours of imposition of a travel ban on him. Later, they were taken to the Metropolitan Detective Branch office.
Earlier, a general diary was registered against the accused under Section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
