Attack on BNP procession injures 17 in Pirojpur

At least 17 people were injured, seven of them bullet-hit, as the
local Awami League (AL) activists attacked a procession of BNP in
Balipara Bazar area of Zianagar upazila on Friday evening.
Witnesses said some activists of AL swooped on the activists of BNP
when the latter were passing through Balipara Bazar area with a
procession around 6.00pm.
The ruling party activists also attacked the BNP activists with
sticks, iron rods and brick chips that left 10 people injured.
At one stage when the BNP activists dispersed into different
directions, the AL activists fired several rounds of bullet around,
leaving seven people bullet-hit, witnesses said.
Of the seven bullet-injured—Zakir, Moazzem and Rahman Fakir were
identified as BNP activists while Ruhul Amin, Meraj, Tofazzel and
Masum were AL activists, locals said.
The BNP activists brought out the procession welcoming the party
chairperson Khaleda Zia who will be on a visit to Khulna on Sunday.
Officer-in-charge of Zianagar Police Station Nasir Uddin confirmed the
