Blasting BNP for launching attacks on police on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday warned that the government will not tolerate such attack anymore.”We won’t tolerate such act in future,” she said.
The Prime Minister issued the warning after adorning newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary with the IGP rank badge at her official residence Ganobhaban.
She said the law enforcement agencies have been playing a strong role in maintaining the law and order. “Even their members are sacrificing their lives in protecting people’s lives and property.”
Sheikh Hasina also sought cooperation of the country’s people to uproot terrorism, militancy and drug menaces. “We want to root out terrorism, militancy and drugs from the country and we want people’s cooperation to this end,” she said.
She said police performed many tough responsibilities in the country, seeking people’s cooperation so that country’s development continues.
After adorning him with the rank badge, the Prime Minister greeted the IGP by presenting a bouquet.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and outgoing IGP AKM Shahidul Hoque were present on the occasion.
