B. Chowdhury for judicial inquiry on minority repression

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Wednesday demanded judicial inquiry into the post election repression on the minority community.
In a statement, he said the government should form an inquiry committee headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court to prevent reoccurrence of such incidents.“The committee will assess the damage to the properties, fined out real culprits and recommend for prevention of recurrence of such incident in future,” he added.
B Chowdhury said the recommendations were made to stop recurrence of post election violence.
“I have been shocked and stunned over arsoning attacks on homes and clothes of minority people forcing them to live under an open sky in the winter. I express my sympathy and concern to the oppressed people,” he said in the statement.
The former President also demanded of the prime minister to visit the affected areas and arrange for reaching cash, clothing and food among the affected people.
He urged the government to let opposition leader Khaleda Zia  free of her interment and let her visit to the affected areas immediately.
The BDB leader recommended setting up three to four police outposts in each Union Parishad in the affected areas.
He also recommended that the army the BGB troops should remain deployed for another month to ensure that nobody could leave the country for migration for another country.
He called upon the leaders and activists of newly formed National Democratic Front to stand besides the minority community. – Staff Reporter
