Badmouthing in JS: Provocation from PM, alleges BNP

BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Wednesday alleged that the there has been a provocation from the Prime Minister herself in blemishing parliament with badmouthing.“They (treasury bench members) in a planned way are trying to make parliament dysfunctional by using filthy and abusive words and making derogatory remarks. We want to clearly mention that the country’s Prime Minister has instigated (MPs) to soil the parliament’s image with badmouthing,” he said.
The BNP leader came up with the allegation while addressing a discussion, titled ‘A non-party caretaker government is the only way to overcome political crisis’, organised by Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad at the Jatiya Press Club.
Mosharraf said the government earlier made the country’s most institutions dysfunctional, and they are now trying to make parliament ineffective, too as per the suggestion of their foreign friends.
He also alleged that the swearing spate in parliament has been initiated as the government does not want to see the opposition in the House.
The former minister said the government has left no stone unturned to manipulate the recently-held elections to the four city corporations but people thwarted their all plots.
He hoped the results of the Gazipur city corporation polls slated for July 6 would the identical like that of Rajshahi, Khunla, Barisal and Sylhet.
The people have showed their no-confidence in the current regime in the recently held polls, the BNP policymaker said adding, “People now don’t want to see this government in office as they’ve failed to fulfill their promises and indulged in unbridled corruption and restored to repressive acts.”
Mentioning that restoration of the caretaker government system is now the demand of the country’s majority people, he said the next election must be held under a non-party administration.
Mosharraf said the ruling party wants to hold the election under their own administration as it loses earth under its feet.
He also warned that they together with people will resist the government from holding the general election under a party government. (Source: UNB)
