Ban on nighttime stay in BD govt secretariat

Dhaka – The government has imposed a restriction on nighttime stay of its employees inside the Bangladesh Secretariat in order to ensure security of the country’s administrative hub, UNB news agency reported.
The Home Ministry issued a notification, signed by its Joint Secretary Md Shahed Ali, on Saturday in this regard.If any government employee needs to stay at his/her office for any emergency purpose after the office hours or passing the night there, he or she must inform the Home Ministry in this regard, the notification said.
It said employees need to take prior permission from the Home Ministry in case of staying night at the Secretariat for a long time.
Some officials and employees have to work on emergency occasions after the office hours while a few others stay inside the Secretariat without prior permission which is not expected, the notification said.
As Bangladesh Secretariat is a restricted and sensitive establishment, no one accept law enforcement agencies can stay there at night without prior permission. “It needs to be ensured so that no employee can stay at night without prior permission,” the notification said.
The Home Ministry requested other ministries concerned to take necessary steps to ensure that no employee stays inside the Secretariat at night in the interest of its overall security.
