Bangladeshi dies in Indian hospital

A Bangladeshi, who was picked by members of Indian Border Security Forces (BSF)
from Hapania border in Sapahar upazila on Saturday, died at a hospital in India on
Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Faruq Hossain, son of Enamul Haque of Beldanga village
of the upazila.
Commanding Officer Ltd. Col. Anwar Hossain of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)
Battalion- 46 said that BSF troops had caught two cattle traders—Faruq and Ziaur
Rahman—after a hot chase when they were entering India from Bangladesh illegally
through the border on Saturday morning.
They were admitted to Maldah hospital in India as they fell sick after being tortured by
BSF, he claimed.
Later, Faruq died at the hospital at about 3.00pm, he said.
Sapahar thana police said Maldah police handed over the body of Faruq to Sapahar thana
police on Monday. -UNB, Naogaon
