Bangladeshi women are sexually abused in abroad!

The report “Female labour migration from BD marks rise in last 12 months” published in a daily has drawn my attention. In 2013, female labour migrated to Jordan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman and Qatar mainly for their housekeeping sector.According to Bangladeshi Ovibashi Mohila Sramik Association (BOMSA), some 70 per cent of the Bangladeshi female migrant workers face torture by employers mostly for demanding wages at the end of the month.
Moreover, BOMSA receives about 100 complaints on an average each month from the female workers abroad about their physical torture, sexual abuse at workplaces, denial of wages and food.
Earlier, doing the same job women get less salaries compared to their male counterpart.
The incumbents should take appropriate measures for the wellbeing of our female labours working in the foreign countries. On the other hand, prepare women through proper courses and training so that they can enjoy better facilities in abroad as well as send handsome remittance to develop our country quickly.
