Mymensingh, Feb 06 – Two BAU alumni agriculture minister krishibid Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque and Bogra-1 MP krishibid Abdul Mannan and Fisheries and Livestock minister Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru will be honoured on ‘krishibid day’ 13 February at ‘Bangabandhu Smritty Chattar’of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
BAU and BAU alumni association jointly take initiative to celebrate ‘krishibid day’, felicitate to BAU alumni for their achievement and a national seminar on ‘Modern Agriculture for achieving sustainable development’ for accelerating agricultural development in the light of the current government’s election manifesto, says BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Ali Akbar on a press conference at his secretariat office.

He is the first ‘agriculturist’ agriculture minister. It is mentionable that different agriculturists are observing to mark Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s acceptance of the demand for giving agricultural graduates the status of first-class officers in civil service.
Graduates from agricultural universities were regarded as second-class officials prior to that, although doctors or architects enjoyed the status of first-class officers.
Bangabandhu accepted the demand of agricultural graduates at a gathering at Bangladesh Agricultural University on 13 February of 1973. – BAU Correspondent
