Mymensingh – The Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Syndicate on Monday approved the annual budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 with a small allocation for academic purpose.The BAU syndicate and finance committee approved the budget at the 312th syndicate meeting at the university administration building, with BAU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Ali Akbar in the chair.
The total budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 is estimated at Tk 282.42 crore which was Tk 251.94 crore last year.
Of the total budget, BAU will get Tk 273.42 crore from University Grants Commission while Tk 9.00 crore will be generated from the university’s own income.
Tk 18.88 crore has been allocated for education purpose which is the only 6.69 percent of total budget.
The maximum share of the budget, Tk 237.69 crore, will be spent for salaries and pensions of the teachers, officials and employees.
Tk 16.60 crore is sanctioned for general expenditure, Taka 3.90 crore is for construction, repair and rehabilitation, 3.50 crore for resource mobilization and 1.85 crore for special allotment. – BAU Correspondent
