Rajshahi – Some leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chatraa League Rajshahi University (RU) unit have allegedly beaten up a RU journalist Arafat Hossain on Monday.Arafat Hossain, is the RU correspondent of the Daily Star and a 2nd year student of the Mass-communication and journalism department of the university.
Eyewitness said, Saiful Islam Bijoy, Law secretary of the BCL unit had an altercation with a driver over a prtty issue at Binudpur Bazar. At one stage they engaged in a clash. Following the incident, Joint Secretary KM Saddam Hossain Sojib, Organizing Secreraty Abid Ahsan Labon and Office secretary Abul Bashar Ahmed with their activists began to vandalize the bus. At the same time they began to bet up Arafat Hossain for taking photoa at the spot.
The victim was admitted to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for serious injury.
University Press Club, University Journalist Unity expressed their condemnation over this incident. The President of the BCL unit Golam Kibria said, if the allegation brought against their leaders and activists is true, the authority will take tough action. – RU Correspondent
