BAU student given show cause notice for FB status

Mymensingh, Aug 9 – Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has given a show cause notice to a student for a Facebook status indicating indecent remark about the university Proctor. The notice was signed by the university's Additional Registrar (education) on Thursday. Probal Roy Pranto, a student of Fisheries Faculty of level 4 Semester 1 and also the resident student of Hossain Shaheed Shuhrawardy Hall asked to explain the reasons in writing within the next 3 working days.
The notice says, on the last Sunday, Probal gave a Facebook status from his ID indicating indecent remark about the university Proctor. This is an obvious example of a disciplined, unencumbered and disciplined student discipline as a responsible student of the university. It is a punishable offence according to the Bangladesh Agricultural University's Ordinance for Student discipline. It is instructed to submit written submissions within three working days, describing why the punitive action will not be taken against you for that activity.
Probal said the matter is completely false and fabricated. In a very clear and brief speech, I expressed my position on that day and I do not think it was something that could be done by the law of the university. I urge the university authorities to have a thorough investigation of the matter. I felt like I forgot that we live in an independent country. He may have forgotten that there is still a constitution in the country. According to the existing constitution, everyone has the right to protest, rally. So at that time, I shared the picture on Facebook. – BAU Correspondent
