CID arrests 9 for digital fraud in public recruitment exams

Dhaka, Aug 9 – Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested 9 people, including government officials on charges of digital fraud in admission test of the bank and government jobs also BCS examinations. They were arrested on Wednesday night in separate raids in the capital city Dhaka. The arrestees are Alip Kumar Biswas, assistant director of BKSP (suspended) and mastermind of the cartel, Assistant Administrative Officer of BADC Mostafa Kamal, a 36th BCS non-cadre Ibrahim, 38th BCS preliminary qualified Ayub Ali Badhan, English teacher of Agrani School Golam Mohammad Babul, Office Assistant of the school Anwar Hosen Majumder and Md Nurul Islam, Social Science teacher Hosne Ara Begum of Dhanmondi Government Boys School, and Office Assistant of the school Hasmot Ali Shikder.
At a press briefing held at CID head office yesterday Mollah Nazrul Islam, special superintendent of CID said that in the last few years, more than 400 people were admitted to various universities and government jobs through fraudulent. Some information received from them. Action will also be taken against them after the verification.
Molla Nazrul said, Alip Kumar Biswas, the mastermind of the admission test fraud in various universities including Dhaka University. In the last few years, he earned three core through fraud. Ibrahim, Mostafa and Bandhan are main masterminds of BCS examinations including all government recruitment exams. CID has found cash and assets worth Tk 10 core in four of them.
On the basis of initial interrogation of Alip, Ibrahim, Bandhan and Mostafa, the police super further said that after leaking question, they gathered in Alia Madrasa and F Rahman Hall of DU had where their other staffs were able to solve the problem passed through digital devices to provide the students.
Among the accused Ibrahim lived a luxury life. Though Ibrahim has a madrasa background he got the superset for the appointment of 36th BCS by fraud. He is from a poor family but they have four-storey house in Khulna and Duplex houses in Narail. There is also a money exchange company named Rupali Money Exchange in the capital in his name.
Mollah Nazrul said that on October 19, two separate raid was ran in Dhaka University and others district. Later, 37 people were arrested, including sports officer Rakibul Hassan.
Besides, Golam Mohammad Babul an English teacher of Agrani School, Office Assistant Anwar Hossain Majumdar and Md. Nurul Islam were arrested for supplying question paper before starting the examination.
In the same complaint, Sociology teacher of Dhanmondi Govt. School, Hossain Ara Begum and Peon Hasmat Ali Sikder were arrested.
During that time CID found a few copies of question paper of the BCS written examination of that day and Tk 60,000 from Hasmat.
Molla Nazrul Islam said that not only the question paper leak happed for the admission test but also various jobs recruitments.
“we are trying to detain all of them and CID examining the matter consciously,” he added. – Staff Reporter
