Dhaka- A brilliant century by Saifuddin enabled touring Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) High Performance (HP) Squad to clinch the five-match one day series 3-0 in Australia beating Northern Territory Invitational Eleven by 42 runs in the 3rd match at the Marrara Cricket Ground (MCG) 1 in Darwin on Friday.Batting first in the day’s match, touring Bangladesh HP team piled up a moderate total of 267 runs losing seven wickets featuring an unbeaten century by number five Saifuddin, who hammered 100 runs off 104 balls hitting five boundaries and five over boundaries. Besides, opener Anamul Haque Bijoy contributed 46-ball 36 runs hitting three boundaries and one over boundary, Tanvir Haider made 48-ball 36 runs with two boundaries, Nazmul Hossain Shanta scored 21-ball 26 runs with four boundaries while opener Liton Das scored 11-ball 14 runs with a four and a six.J Freeman grabbed four wickets spending 65 runs, H Martin and T O Cornell took two wickets each conceding 42 and 45 runs respectively.In reply, Northern Territory Invitational Eleven were all out for 225 runs despite a century innings of 144 runs off 131 deliveries by A Gregory, featuring eight fours and seven sixes.Ebadot Hossain was the most successful bowler of BCB HP team claiming three wickets for 44 runs, Abu Haider Rony took two wickets conceding 36 runs while Saifuddin and Jubair Hossain Likhon took one wicket each.Earlier, BCB HP team made a good start in the five-match one-day series beating the same team by one-wicket in the first match on Wednesday and 70 runs in the second match on Thursday, consolidating their claim to win the series.The touring BCB HP team will play the remaining two one-day matches against the local selections on July 9 and 11 respectively at the same venue.Moreover, the Bangladeshi squad will play a three-day match also against the local selections on July 13-15 at the same ground.UNB news agency
